Suggestions from Mizue
These are suggestions to students so that they can maximize their progress.
Instead of trying to practice certain amount of minutes a day, try to practice each assigned song a few times everyday. If students practice this way practice time may be less but /and they will have more efficient effective practice. Also try to practice everyday instead of practicing for a long time only once or twice a week.
I strongly suggest that students’ finger nails are trimmed for more effective, efficient and technically well done performances. However, if you play guitar & need your finger nails to be certain way please disregard this suggestion.
When an injury occurs:
Sometimes students miss lessons because they injured a finger, hand or arm from playing sports. Please remember that unless they are in pain, they can still take their lessons. There are a lot of things students and teachers can work on without using their injured finger, hand or arm; theory, ear training, rhythm practice and reading, sight singing, music history, music appreciation and listening, or even finding some new fun songs together, or just use one hand.
Other important things to remember:
- I advise students arrive to their lessons a few minutes earlier and sit and wait so that students are relaxed, calm and ready for a lesson. When students rush to come to lessons they usually don’t have a good start.
- My mind is not quite set to answer questions regarding scheduling or billing at my lesson studio. Please avoid discussing those issues at the studio and email firstname.lastname@example.org. My assistant or I can assist you via email.
